What is markup?
Markup is profit as a share of cost: ((selling - cost) / cost) x 100. Buy at 80, sell at 100, markup is 25%.
How is markup different from margin?
Margin compares profit to selling price. Same 80 cost and 100 sell gives 20% margin and 25% markup. They are not the same percentage.
How do I get the selling price?
Selling = cost x (1 + markup/100). Cost 50 with 40% markup sells at 70.
What markup should I use?
It depends on category and competition. Many chat sellers start around 30-50% on goods and adjust after packing and shipping costs.
