Which barcode type should I pick?
Use Code 128 for most internal SKUs (letters and numbers). Use EAN-13 outside the US and UPC-A for US retail goods. Use EAN-8 or UPC-E on small packages. Use ITF-14 for shipping cartons. Code 39 and Code 93 also work for alphanumeric labels.
Are these barcodes globally unique like supermarket codes?
Only if you buy official company prefixes from GS1. For your own shop stock, any valid code that you control is fine. Do not copy a brand's published EAN or UPC.
How is a barcode different from an SKU?
An SKU is a human-readable product code you invent. A barcode is a scannable picture of a value (often that same SKU or a numeric GTIN). Many sellers print both on one label.
Can I use this for WhatsApp and Instagram orders?
Yes. Generate a barcode per product, stick it on inventory, then scan when packing a DM order so you pick the right variant.
Does the tool create a GS1 company prefix for me?
No. This tool draws a barcode from the value you type. Official retail uniqueness still comes from GS1 if you need it.
